UGBS Makes it to the Top 20 of the CFO Competition

Publish date:2017-07-17

The University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) has progressed to the next stage of The CFO (Chief Financial Officer) Case Study Competition. The event, which is an international multi-round business management and leadership-focused competition is organised annually by The Charter Quest Institute of South Africa.

The competition challenges university students around the world to prove they can compete at the highest level: by solving a set of complex and integrated finance, operational, strategic and ethical problems that beset a real-world global business in the emerging markets.

This year’s competition required that teams, considered consultancies, analyse a 21-page case study on a multinational mining company (AMANGO Plc) in crisis, and come up with solutions to the company’s problems. These solutions are then required to be set forth to the company’s Board of Directors through a report and a presentation.

Participant in the competition, Team Iris – consisting: Richmond Sam-Quarm, Harriet Adinkrah, Jesse Gyimah, and Edith Akati of the University of Ghana Business School, analysed AMANGO’s problems and presented recommendations in its report, qualifying the team out of 370 teams globally, into the top 20.

For the next round of the competition, Team Iris will prepare a 10-minute PowerPoint presentation based on recommendations in its report and submit a video link of the presentation from which the best 6 teams, for the subsequent round, are going to be selected. UGBS congratulates the team as they continue to step into excellence.
