Event: AABS Case Teaching and Writing Workshop 2014

Location:University of Cape Town, Graduate School of Business, South Africa
Start Date: 2014-07-03
End Date:2014-07-05
Summary:Experienced, well-trained case writers bring to life real situations, which when brought into the classroom, create powerful management education tools. Case Writing Workshops are integrated and hands-on, focused on steering participants through a detailed case writing process, which includes: • defining key skills associated with case writing and teaching, • analysing the reasons for different types of cases, • planning for a case & collecting information, • assessing barriers and the actual case writing process, • writing the teaching note • publishing options and how to publish a case etc. Claire Beswick (who heads up the Wits Business School Case Writing Centre) and Prof Margie Sutherland (a seasoned case writer) have collaborated on the teaching of these workshops to create an exceptional learning environment. Participants come from a variety of academic backgrounds and include doctoral candidates, research assistants, case writers, lecturers, and professors in all management-related disciplines. Please note: Participants will be working on the first evening of the workshop for at least three hours and attendance at all sessions is compulsory.
