Fresh identity for Emerald as it celebrates its 50th anniversary

Publish date:2017-01-06

Bingley, United Kingdom, 5 January 2017 – In its 50th anniversary year, two important developments to Emerald’s brand family reflect the scholarly publisher’s growth into a group of businesses that connect the worlds of research, education and professional learning.

The new Emerald Group brand has been created to incorporate all companies in the business, including GoodPractice and Research Media, as well as future acquisitions. This also prominently includes the established global publishing business, which has been renamed Emerald Publishing (formerly Emerald Group Publishing) and will continue to provide access to a growing collection of more than 300 journals, over 2,500 books and more than 1,500 case studies.

Reflecting these developments, Emerald has launched emeraldpublishing.com and emeraldgroup.com to clearly introduce the aims of the business, and enhanced its emeraldinsight.com research platform to improve the user experience for the research community.

Richard Bevan, CEO of Emerald Group, said: “Our 50th anniversary is an opportune time for Emerald Group to look to the future. We’ve been on an exciting journey in recent years, growing from one company into a group of businesses and expanding our offering to help our communities meet new challenges and opportunities."

“At a time when expertise and evidence is being challenged in some quarters, we remain passionate about helping people in the worlds of research and practice cut through the information overload and make decisions that count based on research that matters. With this aim, we are seeking to build a group of companies that really brings research to life.”

“Our established publishing business has a key role to play in this; nurturing fresh thinking that helps research and researchers make an impact.

“Our new brand development highlights our heritage, our digital and connected future, and our position as an independent champion of ideas that advance research and practice in applied fields.”

Founded by Chairman Dr Keith Howard in 1967, Emerald has exciting plans in place to help celebrate its 50th year in 2017, showcasing its story and providing access to some of its most impactful research at emeraldgroup.com/50
